Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: multimeter, jumper cables, socket set, and torque wrench.
  • Ensure the vehicle is in park (automatic) or neutral (manual) and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock.
2. Battery Inspection
  • Reconnect the battery terminals if they were disconnected.
  • Clean the battery terminals and cable connections using a wire brush.
  • Tighten the battery terminal connections to the manufacturer's specifications.
3. Jump-Start the Vehicle
  • Connect jumper cables: red to the positive terminal of the dead battery and red to the positive terminal of the donor battery.
  • Connect black to the negative terminal of the donor battery, and the other end to a grounded metal surface on the dead vehicle.
  • Start the donor vehicle and then attempt to start the Honda Pilot.
4. Starter Relay and Fuse Check
  • Locate the fuse box and identify the starter relay and fuses.
  • Remove and inspect the starter relay; replace it if there is any sign of damage.
  • Replace any blown fuses related to the starting system with fuses of the same amperage.
5. Starter Motor Inspection
  • If the vehicle still does not start, inspect the starter motor.
  • Remove starter motor bolts and disconnect wiring.
  • Test the starter motor by connecting it directly to the battery; if it does not engage, replace it.
