Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid electrical shorts.
2. Inspect and Replace Hoses
  • Tools Required: Hose clamp pliers, socket set, screwdriver.
  • Inspect each hose connected to the cooling system for any visible damage.
  • If a hose is damaged:
    1. Use hose clamp pliers to loosen and remove the clamp.
    2. Remove the damaged hose.
    3. Install the new hose and secure it with a clamp, tightening to manufacturer specifications.
3. Replace the Water Pump (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, coolant catch pan.
  • Drain the coolant from the system by removing the drain plug at the bottom of the radiator.
  • Remove the serpentine belt from the water pump.
  • Unbolt and remove the water pump, taking care to clean the mounting surface.
  • Install the new water pump with a new gasket, torquing bolts to manufacturer specifications.
  • Refill the cooling system with the appropriate coolant mixture.
4. Repair or Replace the Radiator
  • Tools Required: Socket set, pliers, coolant catch pan.
  • Inspect the radiator for cracks or leaks.
  • If replacement is needed:
    1. Drain the coolant from the radiator.
    2. Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses.
    3. Unbolt the radiator from its mounting points and remove it.
    4. Install the new radiator and reconnect the hoses.
