Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, and the engine is turned off.
  • Wear safety gloves and goggles for protection.
2. Inspect CV Joints
  • Tools Required: Socket set, pry bar
  • Remove the wheel hub covers and loosen the lug nuts.
  • Lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel to gain access to the CV joint.
  • Visually inspect the CV joint for torn boots or grease leakage.
  • Use a pry bar to check for excessive play in the joints. If damaged, proceed to replacement.
3. Replace Damaged CV Joint
  • Tools Required: Torque wrench, new CV joint assembly
  • Disconnect the CV joint from the axle by removing the retaining clip (if equipped).
  • Remove the CV joint from the axle shaft by pulling it out gently.
  • Install the new CV joint by sliding it onto the axle shaft until it clicks into place.
  • Reattach the retaining clip to secure the CV joint.
  • Reinstall the wheel and tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
4. Check and Refill Power Steering Fluid
  • Tools Required: Funnel, power steering fluid
  • Locate the power steering reservoir and remove the cap.
  • Check fluid level against the markings on the reservoir.
  • If low, add the appropriate power steering fluid until it reaches the correct level.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall the wheel and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Tighten the lug nuts fully.
  • Start the vehicle and turn the steering wheel to check for noise.
