Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, timing belt kit, screwdrivers, jack and jack stands, engine support bar (if necessary).
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure electrical safety.
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
2. Remove Engine Covers
  • Remove any plastic engine covers by unscrewing them with a socket or screwdriver.
  • Ensure to keep track of all screws and components removed.
3. Access Timing Belt
  • Remove the accessory belts by loosening the tensioner pulleys using a socket wrench.
  • Detach the crankshaft pulley; you may need to use a puller tool.
  • Remove the timing belt cover bolts and carefully take off the cover.
4. Remove Old Timing Belt
  • Rotate the engine to align the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft.
  • Loosen the timing belt tensioner and remove the tensioner.
  • Carefully slide off the old timing belt from the camshaft and crankshaft gears.
5. Install New Timing Belt
  • Place the new timing belt around the crankshaft and camshaft gears, ensuring it follows the correct routing as per the service manual.
  • Install the new tensioner and set it according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Rotate the engine by hand a couple of times to ensure proper alignment and tension.
6. Reassemble Components
  • Reattach the timing belt cover and crankshaft pulley, tightening to the specified torque.
  • Reinstall the accessory belts and any engine covers removed earlier.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
