Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, timing belt kit, screwdriver set, jack and jack stands, oil catch pan.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
2. Remove Components
  • Remove the engine cover by unscrewing any fasteners.
  • Detach the accessory drive belts using a belt tensioner tool.
  • Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt with a socket and ratchet (may require a breaker bar).
  • Take off the crankshaft pulley, exposing the timing belt cover.
3. Access Timing Belt
  • Remove the timing belt cover by unscrewing the bolts securing it.
  • Rotate the crankshaft to align the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft gears.
  • Ensure the engine is at Top Dead Center (TDC) on the compression stroke.
4. Replace Timing Belt
  • Loosen the timing belt tensioner bolt and remove the tensioner.
  • Slide off the old timing belt from the camshaft and crankshaft gears.
  • Position the new timing belt according to the timing marks.
  • Install the new tensioner and tighten the tensioner bolt to the manufacturer's specifications.
5. Reassemble Components
  • Reattach the timing belt cover and secure with bolts.
  • Reinstall the crankshaft pulley and torque the bolt to the specified value.
  • Reattach the accessory drive belts and engine cover.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
