Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, ratchet, serpentine belt tool or wrench, torque wrench, flashlight.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is off and cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Access the Serpentine Belt
  • Remove any engine covers if applicable using a socket and ratchet.
  • Locate the serpentine belt routing diagram, usually found on a sticker near the engine bay.
3. Remove the Old Serpentine Belt
  • Use a serpentine belt tool or wrench to relieve tension from the belt tensioner.
  • While holding the tensioner, slide the belt off the tensioner pulley.
  • Carefully release the tensioner back to its resting position.
  • Remove the belt from all pulleys following the routing diagram.
4. Install the New Serpentine Belt
  • Compare the old belt with the new belt to ensure proper length and width.
  • Begin routing the new belt according to the routing diagram, ensuring it sits properly in all pulleys.
  • Pull the tensioner back with the serpentine belt tool and slip the belt over the tensioner pulley last.
  • Ensure the belt is seated correctly in all grooves of the pulleys.
5. Final Checks
  • Reinstall any engine covers that were removed.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the engine and observe the belt to ensure it runs smoothly without noise.
