Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools: small screwdriver, new CR2032 key fob battery (if needed), and OBD-II scanner.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked in a safe location with the engine off.
2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  1. Use a small screwdriver to gently open the key fob casing.
  2. Remove the old battery and dispose of it properly.
  3. Insert the new CR2032 battery with the correct polarity (+ side facing up).
  4. Snap the fob casing back together securely.
  5. Test the key fob by pressing the buttons to ensure it works.
3. Reprogram the Key Fob (if necessary)
  1. Sit inside the vehicle and close all doors.
  2. Insert the key into the ignition and turn to the "On" position (do not start the engine).
  3. Press the "Lock" button on the key fob within 5 seconds.
  4. Turn the key back to the "Off" position and remove it.
  5. Repeat the steps for any additional key fobs to be programmed.
4. Inspect the Keyless Entry System
  1. If the key fob still does not work, use the OBD-II scanner to check for stored error codes.
  2. Address any issues indicated by the diagnostic codes, which may involve inspecting the keyless entry module or wiring.
