Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials required for the repair.
  • Ensure you have a new key fob battery (usually CR2032).
  • Safety warning: Work in a clean, dry area to avoid damaging the key fob.
2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  • Step 1: Open the key fob by using a small flathead screwdriver to carefully pry apart the two halves.
  • Step 2: Remove the old battery from its compartment, noting the orientation (positive side up).
  • Step 3: Insert the new battery into the compartment, ensuring it is positioned correctly.
  • Step 4: Snap the two halves of the key fob back together securely.
3. Reprogram the Key Fob (if necessary)
  • Step 1: Sit inside the Honda Pilot with all doors closed.
  • Step 2: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position (do not start the engine).
  • Step 3: Press and hold the “LOCK” button on the key fob for 1 second, then release it.
  • Step 4: Turn the ignition to "OFF" and then back to "ON" three times within 5 seconds, ending in the "ON" position.
  • Step 5: The locks will cycle to indicate the programming mode is activated. Press the “LOCK” button again on the key fob to program it.
  • Step 6: Turn the ignition to the "OFF" position to exit programming mode.
