Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, extension, anti-seize compound, dielectric grease.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Locate and remove any screws or bolts securing the engine cover.
    2. Gently lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
3. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Locate the ignition coils on top of the engine.
    2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from each ignition coil by pressing the release tab and pulling them off.
    3. Remove the bolts securing the ignition coils using a socket wrench.
    4. Carefully pull the ignition coils out of their respective spark plug wells.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Use the spark plug socket and ratchet to carefully unscrew each spark plug from the cylinder head.
    2. Inspect the old spark plugs for signs of wear or fouling.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs to prevent seizure.
    2. Carefully thread each new spark plug into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading.
    3. Using a torque wrench, tighten each spark plug to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically around 13 lb-ft for Honda).
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Place each ignition coil back into its respective position over the new spark plugs.
    2. Secure each coil with its bolts and reconnect the electrical connectors until they click into place.
7. Replace Engine Cover
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Position the engine cover back onto the engine.
    2. Reinstall any screws or bolts that were removed.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is secure.
