Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and ensure the engine is off.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves for protection.
2. Check and Recharge Refrigerant
  • Tools Required: Manifold gauge set, refrigerant (R-1234yf), refrigerant scale
  • Connect the low-pressure side of the manifold gauge to the service port.
  • Start the engine and turn the AC to maximum cool.
  • Observe the pressure readings on the gauge. If low, add refrigerant to reach the manufacturer's specified level.
  • Disconnect the gauge set and ensure the service port cap is securely reinstalled.
3. Inspect and Replace AC Compressor (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, AC compressor oil
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Remove the serpentine belt from the AC compressor by using a wrench to relieve tension on the tensioner.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector and refrigerant lines from the compressor.
  • Remove the mounting bolts and carefully extract the compressor from its bracket.
  • Install the new compressor by reversing the removal steps, ensuring to add the specified amount of AC compressor oil.
  • Reconnect the refrigerant lines and electrical connector, and reinstall the serpentine belt.
4. Check AC Relay and Fuses
  • Tools Required: Multimeter
  • Locate the fuse box and identify the AC relay and fuses.
  • Use a multimeter to test for continuity in the AC relay and fuses. Replace any faulty components.
5. Replace Cabin Air Filter
  • Tools Required: None
  • Open the glove compartment and locate the cabin air filter housing.
  • Remove the old cabin air filter and install a new one, ensuring it is oriented correctly.
