Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Use jack stands to securely lift the vehicle if necessary.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Use a lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts.
  • Lift the vehicle with a jack and secure with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect Brake Components
  • Brake Pads:
    • Check for wear indicators; replace pads if less than 3mm thickness is remaining.
    • If pads are worn unevenly, assess caliper function.
  • Brake Rotors:
    • Inspect for scoring or warping; replace if grooves are deep or surface is uneven.
    • Measure rotor thickness; replace if below manufacturer specifications.
4. Replace Brake Pads and/or Rotors
  • If replacing brake pads:
    • Remove the caliper bolts with a socket set.
    • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and support it with a hanger.
    • Remove old pads and install new pads, ensuring they are properly seated.
  • If replacing rotors:
    • Remove the old rotor from the hub.
    • Install the new rotor, ensuring it is flush against the hub.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall the caliper over the new pads or rotor.
  • Tighten caliper bolts to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and fully tighten lug nuts in a crisscross pattern.
