Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and safety equipment.
  • Ensure the engine is off and cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Clean or Replace Spark Plugs
  • Remove the spark plug wires using a spark plug boot puller.
  • Use a socket wrench to remove the spark plugs.
  • Inspect the spark plugs for wear; replace if necessary.
  • If cleaning, use a wire brush and ensure the gap is set to manufacturer specifications (typically around 0.044 inches).
  • Reinstall the spark plugs and reconnect the wires securely.
3. Clean the Throttle Body
  • Remove the air intake duct to access the throttle body.
  • Spray throttle body cleaner onto a clean cloth and wipe the inside of the throttle body.
  • Ensure to clean around the throttle plate and the edges to remove carbon buildup.
  • Reattach the air intake duct securely after cleaning.
4. Inspect and Replace Vacuum Lines
  • Visually inspect all vacuum lines for cracks or disconnections.
  • Replace any damaged lines with OEM parts.
  • Ensure all connections are tight and secure to prevent vacuum leaks.
5. Test Fuel Pressure
  • Connect a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail.
  • Turn the ignition to the "ON" position without starting the engine and check the fuel pressure reading against manufacturer specifications.
  • If the pressure is low, check the fuel pump and filter for issues.
