Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts before starting the repair.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical issues.
2. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Fluid
  • Tools Required: Fluid siphon, funnel, power steering fluid.
  • If the fluid is low or contaminated, siphon out the old fluid using a siphon pump.
  • Replace with manufacturer-recommended power steering fluid (refer to the owner's manual for specifications).
  • Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock to circulate the new fluid and remove air bubbles.
3. Check and Replace Power Steering Pump
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, new power steering pump (if necessary).
  • Remove the drive belt from the power steering pump by loosening the tensioner.
  • Disconnect the power steering lines (ensure to have a catch basin for fluid).
  • Remove the mounting bolts and take out the power steering pump.
  • Install the new pump, ensuring proper alignment and torque specifications for the mounting bolts.
  • Reconnect the power steering lines and reinstall the drive belt.
4. Inspect and Repair Steering Rack
  • Tools Required: Socket set, steering rack (if necessary).
  • If the steering rack is damaged, remove any components obstructing access to it.
  • Disconnect the steering column from the rack and remove the mounting bolts.
  • Take out the steering rack and inspect for wear or leaks.
  • Install the new steering rack, ensuring proper alignment and secure mounting.
  • Reconnect the steering column and any other components removed during the process.
