Solution
1. Preparation
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and secure it on jack stands.
2. Remove the Front Wheels
  • Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the front wheels.
  • Place the wheels aside for later reinstallation.
3. Disconnect the Steering Rack
  • Remove the lower steering column bolt using a socket and ratchet.
  • Disconnect the steering shaft from the steering rack.
  • Unbolt the power steering fluid lines from the rack using a wrench, and drain the fluid into a suitable container.
  • Remove the mounting bolts securing the steering rack to the subframe.
4. Remove the Steering Rack
  • Carefully slide the steering rack out from its mounting position.
  • Check the condition of the rubber bushings and replace if necessary.
5. Install the New Steering Rack
  • Position the new steering rack into place and secure it with the mounting bolts. Torque to manufacturer's specifications (typically around 37 ft-lbs).
  • Reconnect the power steering fluid lines and ensure they are tight.
  • Reattach the steering shaft to the new rack and secure with the lower column bolt.
6. Reassemble and Refill
  • Reinstall the front wheels and torque the lug nuts to the specified value (typically around 80 ft-lbs).
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Refill the power steering fluid reservoir with the recommended fluid type (usually Honda PSF or equivalent).
