Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdrivers, cleaning supplies, multimeter
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and turn off the engine.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety.
2. Inspect Throttle Cable
  • Remove the engine cover (if applicable) using a socket set.
  • Follow the throttle cable from the pedal to the throttle body.
  • Check for kinks, fraying, or binding. If damaged, replace the throttle cable.
3. Clean Throttle Body
  • Remove the air intake duct connected to the throttle body using screwdrivers.
  • Spray throttle body cleaner onto a clean cloth and wipe the inside of the throttle body, removing carbon deposits.
  • Ensure the throttle plate opens and closes freely. If the throttle plate is stuck, replace the throttle body.
4. Check Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
  • Locate the TPS on the throttle body.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the TPS.
  • Use a multimeter to check the resistance across the TPS terminals while moving the throttle plate. The resistance should change smoothly.
  • If the TPS readings are erratic or outside the specified range, replace the TPS.
5. Reassemble Components
  • Reattach the air intake duct and secure it properly.
  • Reconnect the throttle cable to the throttle body and ensure it is free of obstructions.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
