Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and materials.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical issues.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before beginning work.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Use a socket set to remove bolts securing the engine cover (if applicable).
  • Lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
3. Remove Throttle Body Air Intake Hose
  • Loosen the clamps securing the air intake hose to the throttle body using a flathead screwdriver.
  • Carefully detach the hose from the throttle body.
4. Disconnect Throttle Body Electrical Connector
  • Locate the electrical connector on the throttle body.
  • Press the release tab and pull the connector off gently.
5. Remove Throttle Body
  • Unscrew the throttle body mounting bolts with a socket set.
  • Carefully lift the throttle body off the intake manifold, ensuring any gaskets remain intact.
6. Clean the Throttle Body
  • Use throttle body cleaner and a clean lint-free cloth or a soft-bristle brush.
  • Spray the cleaner onto the cloth or directly into the throttle body and gently scrub away carbon deposits and dirt, especially around the throttle plate and inside the housing.
  • Ensure that the throttle plate can move freely after cleaning.
7. Reinstall Throttle Body
  • Place the cleaned throttle body back onto the intake manifold.
  • Secure it with the mounting bolts and tighten them to the manufacturer’s specified torque (typically around 12-16 lb-ft, but verify with the service manual).
8. Reconnect Electrical Connector and Air Intake Hose
  • Reattach the electrical connector to the throttle body until it clicks into place.
  • Reattach the air intake hose and tighten the clamps securely.
9. Replace Engine Cover
  • Reinstall the engine cover and secure it with the bolts.
10. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery securely.
