Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Lint-free cloth or paper towel.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface.
  • Start the engine and let it idle until it reaches normal operating temperature.
2. Check Fluid Level
  1. Open the hood of the CR-V and locate the transmission fluid dipstick.
  2. Remove the dipstick by pulling it out gently.
  3. Wipe the dipstick clean with a lint-free cloth to remove any fluid.
  4. Reinsert the dipstick fully into its tube to ensure an accurate reading.
  5. Pull the dipstick out again and check the fluid level against the markings on the dipstick. The fluid should be within the "Full" and "Add" marks.
3. Inspect Fluid Condition
  1. Observe the color of the fluid on the dipstick. It should be a bright red color.
  2. Smell the fluid; it should not have a burnt odor. If it does, the fluid may need to be replaced.
  3. If the fluid appears dark or contains debris, it may indicate the need for a transmission service.
4. Add Fluid (if necessary)
  1. If the fluid is low, obtain the recommended transmission fluid (Honda ATF-Z1 or compatible).
  2. Use a funnel to add fluid through the dipstick tube.
  3. Add small amounts at a time and recheck the level until it reaches the appropriate mark on the dipstick.
