Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, mechanic's stethoscope, socket set, torque wrench, feeler gauge.
  • Safety Warnings: Disconnect the battery before starting work on electrical components.
2. Change Engine Oil and Filter
  1. Drain the oil:
    • Place a drain pan under the oil pan.
    • Remove the oil drain plug using a socket set, allowing the old oil to fully drain.
  2. Replace the oil filter:
    • Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old filter.
    • Apply a thin layer of new oil on the rubber gasket of the new filter.
    • Install the new filter by hand until snug, then tighten an additional 3/4 turn.
  3. Refill with oil:
    • Replace the drain plug and torque to manufacturer specifications.
    • Add new oil through the oil filler cap, using the appropriate type and amount specified in the owner's manual.
3. Adjust Valve Clearance (if applicable)
  1. Remove the valve cover:
    • Disconnect any components obstructing access to the valve cover.
    • Remove the bolts securing the valve cover and gently lift it off.
  2. Measure and adjust clearance:
    • Use a feeler gauge to measure the clearance between the rocker arm and valve stem.
    • Adjust by loosening the rocker arm lock nut and turning the adjustment screw to achieve the specified clearance.
  3. Reinstall the valve cover:
    • Clean the mating surfaces and apply a new gasket if necessary.
    • Reinstall the valve cover and torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
