Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, ratchet, multimeter, ignition coil puller (if necessary).
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Locate the engine cover (if installed) and remove any screws or fasteners.
  • Carefully lift and set aside the engine cover.
3. Remove the Ignition Coil
  • Identify the ignition coil locations atop the engine (typically one per cylinder).
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil by pressing the release tab and pulling it off.
  • Use the socket set to remove the bolts securing the ignition coil to the engine.
  • Gently pull the ignition coil out of the spark plug well. If it is stuck, use an ignition coil puller to assist.
4. Install New Ignition Coil
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of the new ignition coil boot to aid in installation and prevent moisture.
  • Insert the new ignition coil into the spark plug well, ensuring it seats properly.
  • Secure the ignition coil with the bolts and torque them to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 7-10 ft-lbs).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector until it clicks into place.
5. Reinstall Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Place the engine cover back onto the engine and secure it with any screws or fasteners previously removed.
6. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is tightened securely.
