Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is turned off and cool.
  • Tools Required: Socket set, funnel, torque wrench, OBD-II scanner.
  • Parts Required: Honda Genuine CVT fluid, new washer for the drain bolt.
2. Drain the Old CVT Fluid
  1. Lift the Vehicle:

    • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  2. Remove the Drain Plug:

    • Place a drain pan under the transmission pan.
    • Use the appropriate socket to remove the drain plug. Allow the fluid to completely drain into the pan.
3. Replace the CVT Fluid Filter (if applicable)
  1. Remove the Transmission Pan:

    • If there is a filter, remove the bolts securing the transmission pan using a socket set.
    • Carefully detach the pan and clean the mating surface.
  2. Replace the Filter:

    • Remove the old filter and install the new one, ensuring the rubber O-ring is properly seated.
4. Add New CVT Fluid
  1. Reinstall the Drain Plug:

    • Replace the drain plug with a new washer and torque it to the manufacturer's specifications (usually around 34 ft-lbs).
  2. Fill the CVT:

    • Insert a funnel into the dipstick tube and pour the new Honda Genuine CVT fluid until it reaches the full mark on the dipstick.
5. Check Fluid Level
  1. Start the Engine:

    • Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
  2. Cycle Through Gears:

    • Move the gear selector through all positions (P, R, N, D) and return to Park.
  3. Recheck Fluid Level:

    • With the engine running, recheck the fluid level and add more fluid as necessary.
