Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the ignition is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to raise the front of the vehicle.
  • Securely place jack stands under the vehicle for safety.
3. Remove Wheel
  • Using a socket set, remove the lug nuts and take off the front wheel to access the suspension components.
4. Remove the Ball Joint
  • Tools Required: Ball joint separator, socket set, torque wrench.
  • Remove any retaining clips or bolts securing the ball joint to the control arm.
  • Use a ball joint separator to detach the ball joint from the knuckle.
  • If the ball joint is pressed in, use a hydraulic press to remove it from the control arm.
5. Install New Ball Joint
  • Tools Required: Hydraulic press (if the ball joint is pressed in), torque wrench.
  • Align the new ball joint with the control arm and press it in using the hydraulic press.
  • Reattach the ball joint to the knuckle and secure it with the retaining clips or bolts.
  • Torque all fasteners to the manufacturer's specifications.
6. Reassemble
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and fully torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
7. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Inspect the work area for any tools or parts left behind.
