Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, funnel, OBD-II scanner, flashlight, safety gloves.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface, and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety.
2. Inspect and Refill Power Steering Fluid
  • Locate the power steering fluid reservoir.
  • Remove the cap and check the fluid level; it should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks.
  • If low, use a funnel to add the recommended power steering fluid (consult the owner's manual for the specific type).
3. Replace Power Steering Pump (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Wrench set, torque wrench, new power steering pump, new O-rings.
  • Remove the serpentine belt by loosening the tensioner.
  • Disconnect the power steering pump from the hoses; use a container to catch any leaking fluid.
  • Unbolt the pump from its mounting bracket and remove it from the engine bay.
  • Install the new power steering pump in reverse order, ensuring to replace O-rings and torque bolts to manufacturer's specifications.
  • Reconnect the hoses and serpentine belt.
4. Bleed Power Steering System
  • With everything connected, start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times to help purge air from the system.
  • Check fluid levels again and top off as necessary.
