Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: OBD-II scanner, multimeter, socket set, flashlight.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
2. Inspect and Clean Battery Terminals
  • Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal followed by the positive (+).
  • Inspect terminals for corrosion; clean with a wire brush if present.
  • Reconnect battery terminals securely.
3. Check and Replace Serpentine Belt (if necessary)
  • Locate the serpentine belt tensioner and relieve tension using a socket.
  • Remove the belt from the pulleys and inspect for cracks or fraying.
  • If damaged, replace the belt with a new one of the correct size and specification.
  • Reinstall the belt following the routing diagram usually found on the engine cover.
4. Examine and Test the Starter Motor
  • Remove any covers obstructing access to the starter motor.
  • Inspect the starter motor connections for corrosion or looseness.
  • Use a multimeter to check voltage at the starter during cranking to ensure it receives adequate power.
  • Replace the starter motor if it fails to operate correctly.
5. Change Engine Oil (if necessary)
  • If oil level is low or oil appears dirty, drain the old oil and replace it with the manufacturer-recommended oil type.
  • Replace the oil filter as per the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Refill the engine with new oil and check the level using the dipstick.
