Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock.
2. Remove Ignition Coils
  1. Remove the engine cover if applicable.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from each ignition coil.
  3. Unbolt the ignition coils using a socket set and pull them out gently from the spark plug wells.
3. Remove Spark Plugs
  1. Use a spark plug socket and ratchet to loosen and remove each spark plug.
  2. Inspect the condition of each spark plug for wear, carbon buildup, or damage.
4. Install New Spark Plugs
  1. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs if recommended.
  2. Hand-tighten each spark plug and then use a torque wrench to tighten to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 13-16 lb-ft for Honda CR-V).
  3. Reinstall the ignition coils and reconnect the electrical connectors.
5. Reconnect Battery and Test
  1. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2. Start the engine and check for smooth operation and absence of misfires.
  3. Monitor for any check engine light illumination.
