Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools: flathead screwdriver, small Phillips screwdriver, new key fob battery (typically CR2032), and an OBD-II scanner (if needed).
  • Ensure the vehicle is in park and the ignition is off.
2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  • Sub-step 1: Use the flathead screwdriver to gently pry open the key fob casing along the seam.
  • Sub-step 2: Carefully remove the old battery, noting the orientation (positive side facing up).
  • Sub-step 3: Insert the new battery in the same orientation.
  • Sub-step 4: Snap the key fob casing back together until it clicks securely.
3. Program Key Fob (if necessary)
  • Sub-step 1: Sit inside the vehicle with all doors closed.
  • Sub-step 2: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position (do not start the engine).
  • Sub-step 3: Press and hold the "Unlock" button on the driver's door while turning the ignition to "Off" and then back to "On" within 5 seconds.
  • Sub-step 4: Release the "Unlock" button. The locks will cycle to indicate programming mode.
  • Sub-step 5: Press the "Lock" button on the key fob to complete the programming.
4. Inspect Door Lock Actuators
  • Sub-step 1: Remove the door panel on the driver’s side using the Phillips screwdriver and any necessary trim tools.
  • Sub-step 2: Disconnect the wiring harness from the door lock actuator.
  • Sub-step 3: Using a multimeter, check for continuity in the actuator. If defective, replace it with a new actuator.
  • Sub-step 4: Reconnect the wiring harness and reassemble the door panel.
