Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Put on safety glasses and gloves.
2. Inspect and Replace the Purge Valve
  1. Locate the purge valve near the intake manifold.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the purge valve.
  3. Remove the purge valve from its mounting bracket using a socket set.
  4. Install the new purge valve:
    • Position the new valve and secure it with the mounting hardware.
    • Reconnect the electrical connector.
  5. Verify that the valve operates correctly by applying 12V power to it and checking for opening action.
3. Inspect and Replace the EVAP Canister
  1. Locate the EVAP canister, typically found near the fuel tank.
  2. Disconnect any electrical connectors and hoses attached to the canister.
  3. Remove the canister from its mounting bracket.
  4. Install the new EVAP canister:
    • Secure the canister to its mounting location.
    • Reconnect all electrical connectors and hoses.
4. Check the Fuel Cap
  1. Inspect the fuel cap for damage or wear.
  2. Replace the fuel cap if it does not seal properly or if it appears cracked.
5. Reconnect Battery and Clear Codes
  1. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2. Use the OBD-II scanner to clear the P0441 code from the vehicle’s computer.
