Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Transmission fluid pump
    • Drain pan
    • Clean rags
  • Raise the vehicle securely on jack stands and ensure it is level.
2. Drain the Transmission Fluid
  • Place a drain pan under the transmission pan.
  • Remove the transmission pan bolts using a socket set.
  • Carefully lower the pan to drain the fluid completely.
3. Replace Gasket/Seals
  • Remove the old transmission pan gasket and clean the mating surfaces on both the pan and the transmission.
  • Inspect and, if necessary, replace input/output shaft seals.
  • Apply a new gasket or sealant according to manufacturer specifications.
4. Reinstall the Transmission Pan
  • Position the transmission pan back onto the transmission.
  • Hand-tighten all bolts initially, then use a torque wrench to tighten to manufacturer specifications (typically around 12-15 ft-lbs).
  • Ensure the pan is seated properly to prevent future leaks.
5. Refill Transmission Fluid
  • Use a transmission fluid pump to refill the transmission with the recommended fluid type (Honda ATF-Z1 or equivalent).
  • Check the fluid level with the dipstick and add fluid as needed until it reaches the proper level.
6. Test for Leaks
  • Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature.
  • Shift through all gears to circulate the fluid and check for any leaks around the pan and seals.
