Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, timing belt kit, OBD-II scanner, flathead screwdriver, ratchet, and extension.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool down before starting work.
2. Remove Engine Covers
  • Use a socket set to remove the plastic engine cover and any other covers obstructing access to the timing belt.
  • Set aside screws and components in a labeled container to avoid misplacement.
3. Access Timing Belt
  • Remove the drive belts by loosening the tensioner and sliding belts off the pulleys.
  • Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt with a socket and ratchet. Use a breaker bar if necessary.
  • Take off the crankshaft pulley using a puller if needed.
4. Timing Belt Removal
  • Set the engine to Top Dead Center (TDC) by aligning the marks on the crankshaft and camshaft pulleys.
  • Remove any timing belt tensioner and idler pulleys.
  • Carefully slide the old timing belt off the pulleys.
5. Install New Timing Belt
  • Install the new timing belt onto the crankshaft first, ensuring proper alignment with the marked camshaft and crankshaft.
  • Replace the tensioner and idler pulleys, ensuring they are torqued to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Adjust the tension on the timing belt according to the specifications.
6. Reassemble Components
  • Reinstall the crankshaft pulley and torque the bolt to the specified value.
  • Reinstall the drive belts and adjust the tension.
  • Replace any engine covers removed earlier and secure them with screws.
7. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Start the engine and check for any abnormal noises or leaks.
