Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid electrical shorts.
2. Cleaning the Throttle Body
  • Tools Required: Throttle body cleaner, soft cloth, socket set.
  • Remove the air intake duct by loosening the clamps and pulling it off.
  • Spray throttle body cleaner onto a soft cloth and gently wipe the inside of the throttle body to remove carbon buildup.
  • Ensure the throttle plate moves freely, and clean around the edges.
  • Reattach the air intake duct securely.
3. Replacing the Throttle Position Sensor
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the throttle position sensor.
  • Remove the screws securing the TPS to the throttle body using a socket set.
  • Install the new throttle position sensor and tighten the screws to the manufacturer’s specified torque (usually around 8-10 ft-lbs).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector.
4. Replacing the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (if needed)
  • Tools Required: Socket set.
  • Remove the cover panel under the dashboard to access the accelerator pedal.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the accelerator pedal position sensor.
  • Remove the screws securing the sensor and take it out.
  • Install the new sensor and secure it with screws.
  • Reconnect the electrical connector.
5. Final Steps
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Start the engine and allow it to idle for a few minutes to reset the ECU.
  • Perform a throttle relearn procedure if required (consult vehicle service manual for specific steps).
