Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Jack and jack stands
    • Lug wrench
    • Socket set
    • Brake cleaner
    • Torque wrench
    • Caliper tool (for compressing pistons)
    • Safety goggles and gloves
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and securely supported with jack stands before working on it.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
  • Jack up the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel.
3. Remove Brake Caliper
  • Use a socket set to remove the caliper bolts.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and hang it using a bungee cord or wire to avoid stress on the brake line.
4. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Check the brake pads for wear. If they are worn down, remove the old pads.
  • Apply brake grease to the back of the new pads to prevent noise.
  • Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
5. Inspect and Replace Rotors (if necessary)
  • If the rotors are damaged, remove them by unscrewing the retaining screws (if equipped) and sliding them off the hub.
  • Clean the hub surface with brake cleaner before installing new rotors.
  • Install the new rotors, ensuring they are seated properly.
6. Reinstall Caliper
  • Use the caliper tool to compress the caliper piston back into the caliper housing to accommodate the new pads.
  • Reinstall the caliper over the new pads and torque the caliper bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
7. Reinstall Wheel
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub.
  • Hand-tighten the lug nuts and lower the vehicle.
  • Once on the ground, torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
