why does my Honda Civic feel like it's slipping gears

1. Preparation

• Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
• Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
• Disconnect the battery to avoid electrical issues during the repair.

2. Check Transmission Fluid

• Remove the transmission dipstick and wipe it clean.
• Reinsert the dipstick and remove it again to check the fluid level.
• If low, add the recommended transmission fluid (check owner’s manual for specifications).

3. Replace Transmission Fluid

• Drain the old transmission fluid using a drain pan (remove the drain plug if applicable).
• Replace the transmission filter if applicable (remove the transmission pan).
• Reinstall the pan and torque bolts to manufacturer's specification (usually 8-10 ft-lbs).
• Fill the transmission with new fluid through the dipstick tube, using a funnel.

4. Inspect and Adjust Linkage

• Visually inspect the transmission linkage and cables for wear or damage.
• Adjust the linkage according to manufacturer specifications to ensure proper gear engagement.
