Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and securely lifted with jack stands.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Change Transmission Fluid and Filter
  1. Drain Transmission Fluid

    • Locate the transmission drain plug using your vehicle manual.
    • Use a socket set to remove the drain plug and let the fluid drain into a pan.
    • Replace the drain plug and torque it to manufacturer's specifications.
  2. Replace Transmission Filter

    • Remove the transmission pan bolts with a socket set.
    • Carefully lower the transmission pan and remove the old filter.
    • Install the new filter, ensuring it is seated properly.
  3. Reinstall Transmission Pan

    • Clean the transmission pan and apply a new gasket or sealant as needed.
    • Reattach the transmission pan and torque bolts to specifications.
  4. Refill Transmission Fluid

    • Remove the transmission dipstick and use a funnel to refill with the recommended transmission fluid type.
    • Start the engine and let it idle; check the fluid level and add more if necessary.
3. Inspect and Replace Transmission Solenoids (if necessary)
  1. Remove Transmission Pan (if not already done)

    • Follow the steps above to access the solenoids.
  2. Replace Solenoids

    • Disconnect the electrical connectors from the solenoids.
    • Remove the retaining bolts and take out the faulty solenoids.
    • Install the new solenoids and reconnect the electrical connectors.
  3. Reinstall Transmission Pan and Fluid

    • Follow the steps in the previous section to reassemble and refill.
