Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: socket set (10mm and 12mm), torque wrench, spark plug socket, extension bar, and dielectric grease.
  • Ensure the engine is cool to prevent burns.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Use a 10mm socket to remove any bolts securing the engine cover.
    2. Carefully lift the cover off and set it aside.
3. Access the Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Locate the ignition coils on top of the engine.
    2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from each ignition coil by gently pulling on the tab and sliding it off.
4. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Use a 10mm socket to remove the bolts securing each ignition coil.
    2. Gently pull each ignition coil straight out of the spark plug well.
5. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Use a spark plug socket with an extension to carefully unscrew and remove the old spark plugs from the engine.
    2. Inspect the condition of the old spark plugs for wear patterns.
6. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs (optional).
    2. Hand-tighten each spark plug into the cylinder head, then use a torque wrench to tighten to 13 lb-ft (18 Nm).
    3. If applicable, ensure the spark plug gap is adjusted according to specifications before installation.
7. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Insert each ignition coil back into place over the new spark plug.
    2. Secure each coil with its bolt and reconnect the electrical connectors.
8. Reinstall Engine Cover
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Place the engine cover back on and secure it with the bolts.
9. Reconnect Battery
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
