Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and safety equipment: gloves, safety glasses, jack and jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, and brake cleaner.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is still on the ground.
  • Use the jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel to access the brake components.
3. Inspect Brake Components
  • Examine the brake pads for wear. If they are less than 3mm thick, they should be replaced.
  • Check the brake rotors for surface irregularities. If there are deep grooves or warping, consider resurfacing or replacing them.
  • Inspect the calipers for any signs of sticking or leaking brake fluid.
4. Clean and Lubricate
  • Clean the brake pads and rotors with brake cleaner to remove dust and debris.
  • Apply brake lubricant to the back of the brake pads and the sliding surfaces of the calipers to reduce noise.
  • Ensure that all hardware (shims, clips, etc.) is correctly positioned and not damaged.
5. Reassemble
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and use the lug wrench to tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specified torque.
6. Test the Brakes
  • Start the vehicle and gently apply the brakes to ensure proper function and check if the squeaking noise persists.
  • If necessary, repeat the inspection and cleaning process or replace components as needed.
