Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, flathead screwdriver, multimeter, wire connectors, electrical tape, and a replacement window switch (if needed).
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to ensure safety while working on electrical components.
2. Remove the Door Panel
  • Use a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry off any plastic caps covering screws.
  • Remove the screws securing the door panel using a socket set.
  • Gently pull the door panel away from the door, starting from the bottom and working your way up to disengage clips.
  • Disconnect any electrical connectors for the window switch and door locks.
3. Inspect and Test the Window Motor and Wiring
  • Sub-steps:
    • Locate the window motor at the bottom of the door.
    • Check the motor's electrical connector for corrosion or damage.
    • Use a multimeter to test the voltage at the motor connector when the switch is pressed.
    • If there’s no voltage, trace back to the switch and wiring for continuity issues.
    • If there is voltage, proceed to test the motor by applying direct power from a 12V source.
4. Replace the Window Switch or Motor
  • If the switch is faulty, disconnect the old switch and connect the new one, ensuring proper alignment and seating.
  • If the motor is faulty, remove it by unscrewing any mounting bolts and disconnecting the electrical connector. Install the new motor and secure it with bolts.
5. Reassemble the Door
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors for the window switch and any other components removed.
  • Position the door panel back on the door, aligning clips and pressing down to secure.
  • Reinstall screws and cover caps that were removed earlier.
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
