Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, multimeter, socket set, torque wrench.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the engine is cool.
2. Replace Battery (if faulty)
  1. Remove the negative battery terminal first, followed by the positive terminal.
  2. Unbolt the battery hold-down bracket and carefully lift the battery out of the tray.
  3. Install the new battery into the tray ensuring the correct polarity (positive to positive, negative to negative).
  4. Reinstall the hold-down bracket and tighten it securely.
  5. Connect the positive battery terminal first, followed by the negative terminal.
3. Replace Alternator (if faulty)
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2. Remove the serpentine belt by loosening the tensioner and sliding it off the alternator pulley.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the alternator.
  4. Unbolt the alternator from its mounting and remove it from the engine bay.
  5. Install the new alternator by reversing the removal steps, ensuring all bolts are torqued to manufacturer specifications.
  6. Reconnect the electrical connectors and serpentine belt.
4. Clean Battery Terminals (if corroded)
  1. Disconnect the battery terminals (negative first).
  2. Use a mixture of baking soda and water to clean corroded terminals with a wire brush.
  3. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly.
  4. Reconnect the terminals securely.
