Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and securely elevated with jack stands.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Drain Old Transmission Fluid
  • Place a drain pan underneath the transmission pan.
  • Remove the transmission pan bolts (typically 10-12mm) using a socket wrench.
  • Carefully lower the pan, allowing old fluid to drain completely.
3. Replace Transmission Filter
  • Remove the old filter from the transmission.
  • Clean the filter mounting surface and install the new transmission filter, ensuring it is seated properly.
4. Clean Transmission Pan
  • Clean the inside of the transmission pan with a lint-free cloth.
  • Remove old gasket material from the pan and transmission surface.
  • Install a new gasket on the transmission pan.
5. Refill Transmission Fluid
  • Reinstall the transmission pan and torque the bolts to manufacturer specifications (usually around 8-10 ft-lbs).
  • Using a funnel, refill the transmission with new fluid through the dipstick tube. Use Honda ATF DW-1 or equivalent (check the owner's manual for the correct specification).
  • Start the engine and cycle through the gears to allow fluid to circulate, then check the fluid level and add as necessary.
