Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to ensure safety.
  • Allow the vehicle to cool if it has been running.
2. Access the Fuel Level Sensor
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdriver set
  • Remove the rear seat cushion or trunk lining to access the fuel tank.
  • Locate the access panel for the fuel pump/sensor assembly and remove it.
3. Inspect and Test the Fuel Level Sensor
  • Disconnect the wiring harness from the fuel level sensor.
  • Use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the sensor. Compare readings to manufacturer specifications.
  • If the readings are outside the specifications, the sensor is faulty and needs replacement.
4. Replace the Fuel Level Sensor (if necessary)
  • Remove the retaining ring securing the fuel level sensor and carefully lift it out of the tank.
  • Install the new fuel level sensor in the reverse order, ensuring proper sealing and alignment.
  • Reconnect the wiring harness securely.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Replace the access panel and secure the rear seat or trunk lining.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the vehicle and check the fuel gauge operation.
