Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Change Engine Oil and Filter
  • Tools Required: Socket set, oil filter wrench, drain pan, funnel, new oil, new oil filter
  • Warm up the engine slightly to thin the oil for easier draining, then turn it off.
  • Remove the oil drain plug using a socket set and drain old oil into a pan.
  • Replace the oil filter using the oil filter wrench, ensuring to lubricate the new filter's gasket with new oil before installation.
  • Reinstall the drain plug and torque it to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Fill the engine with new oil (refer to the owner's manual for the correct type and amount).
3. Test Oil Pressure
  • Tools Required: Oil pressure gauge
  • Locate the oil pressure sending unit and disconnect the electrical connector.
  • Remove the oil pressure sending unit using the appropriate socket.
  • Install the oil pressure gauge in place of the sending unit.
  • Start the engine and observe the pressure reading on the gauge. A normal reading should be within the manufacturer's specified range.
4. Repair or Replace Oil Pump (if necessary)
  • If the oil pressure is low, the oil pump may need to be replaced.
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, gasket scraper, new oil pump, new gasket
  • Disconnect the battery again.
  • Drain the engine oil and remove the oil pan to access the oil pump.
  • Remove the old oil pump and clean the mounting surface.
  • Install the new oil pump with a new gasket, torque the bolts to the specified values, and reassemble the oil pan.
  • Refill the engine with oil and reconnect the battery.
