Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Ensure the engine is cool to prevent burns.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid electrical shorts.
2. Locate the Leak
  • Use a flashlight to inspect the coolant reservoir, hoses, radiator, and water pump thoroughly.
  • If using a pressure tester, apply pressure to the cooling system and observe for leaks.
3. Replace Damaged Components
  • Coolant Reservoir:

    • Remove any mounting bolts and disconnect the hoses.
    • Install the new reservoir and secure it with bolts.
  • Hoses:

    • Remove the old hose clamps using pliers.
    • Replace any damaged hoses with new ones, ensuring proper fit and securing with clamps.
  • Radiator:

    • Drain coolant by removing the drain plug at the bottom of the radiator.
    • Remove the upper and lower radiator hoses, and disconnect any electrical connections.
    • Unbolt the radiator from its mounts and remove it.
    • Install the new radiator and reattach hoses and electrical connections.
  • Water Pump:

    • Drain the coolant from the system.
    • Remove the drive belt from the water pump.
    • Unbolt the water pump and remove it.
    • Clean the mounting surface and install the new water pump, applying new gasket or sealant as necessary.
    • Reinstall the drive belt.
4. Refill the Cooling System
  • Using a funnel, refill the cooling system with the appropriate coolant mixture.
  • Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature while checking for leaks.
