Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdriver set, fuel pressure gauge, multimeter, safety glasses, shop towels.
  • Safety Warnings: Disconnect the battery before working on electrical systems. Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump relay and starting the engine until it stalls.
2. Access the Fuel Pump
  • Remove the rear seat cushion by pulling up on the front edge to release the clips.
  • Remove the access cover to the fuel pump by unscrewing the retaining screws.
3. Remove the Fuel Pump
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
  • Carefully detach the fuel lines using a line removal tool or pliers. Be prepared for fuel spillage; use shop towels to soak up any spills.
  • Unscrew the retaining ring that holds the fuel pump assembly in place and lift the assembly out of the tank.
4. Install the New Fuel Pump
  • Replace the old fuel pump with the new unit. Ensure any O-rings are replaced to prevent leaks.
  • Reinsert the fuel pump assembly into the tank, aligning it correctly and tightening the retaining ring securely.
  • Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connector.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Replace the access cover and secure it with screws.
  • Reinstall the rear seat cushion by pushing it back into place until it clicks.
  • Reconnect the battery and start the engine to check for proper operation and listen for any unusual noises.
