Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, 14mm socket, C-clamp or brake caliper tool, brake cleaner, torque wrench.
  • Raise the front of the vehicle using the jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the front wheels using the lug wrench.
2. Remove Brake Caliper
  • Loosen and remove the two 14mm bolts securing the brake caliper to the bracket.
  • Carefully lift the caliper off the brake rotor. Do not let it hang by the brake line; use a bungee cord or rope to secure it to the suspension.
3. Remove Old Brake Pads
  • Slide the old brake pads out of the caliper bracket.
  • Inspect the caliper bracket and clean any dust or debris with brake cleaner.
4. Compress Caliper Piston
  • Use a C-clamp or brake caliper tool to compress the piston back into the caliper housing, allowing space for the new pads.
  • Ensure the brake fluid reservoir cap is removed during this process to prevent pressure buildup.
5. Install New Brake Pads
  • Insert the new brake pads into the caliper bracket. Ensure they are seated properly.
  • If the vehicle has a wear indicator, make sure it is positioned correctly.
6. Reattach Brake Caliper
  • Carefully position the caliper back over the new brake pads.
  • Reinstall and tighten the 14mm bolts to the manufacturer’s torque specifications (typically around 25-30 ft-lbs).
7. Reinstall Wheel
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and then use the torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 80-85 ft-lbs).
