Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical issues.
2. Remove Steering Rack
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrench set, steering wheel puller, jack and jack stands.
  • Raise the front of the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the front wheels for better access to the steering components.
  • Disconnect the tie rods from the steering rack using a wrench.
  • Remove the bolts securing the steering rack to the subframe.
  • Disconnect the power steering lines from the rack, collecting any fluid in a drain pan.
  • Carefully slide the steering rack out from the vehicle.
3. Inspect and Replace Steering Rack
  • Inspect the old steering rack for any visible damage or wear.
  • Compare the old rack with the new replacement part to ensure compatibility.
  • Install the new steering rack by reversing the removal process:
    • Slide the new rack into place.
    • Reconnect the power steering lines and torque them to manufacturer's specifications.
    • Reattach the steering rack to the subframe with the designated bolts.
    • Reattach and tighten the tie rods.
4. Reassemble Components
  • Reinstall the front wheels.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
5. Refill Power Steering Fluid
  • Fill the power steering reservoir with the recommended fluid type.
  • Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock to remove air from the system.
