Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and securely lifted with jack stands.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves for protection.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Use a lug wrench to loosen and remove the wheel lug nuts.
  • Remove the wheel and set it aside.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Inspect Brake Pads:
    • Check the thickness; if they are below 3mm, they need replacement.
  • Replace Brake Pads:
    • Remove the caliper bolts using a socket set.
    • Slide the caliper off the rotor and hang it using a bungee cord (do not let it hang by the brake line).
    • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
    • Insert new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
    • Reinstall the caliper over the new pads and secure it with caliper bolts (torque to manufacturer specifications).
4. Inspect and Resurface or Replace Rotors
  • Inspect Rotors:
    • Check for warping using a dial indicator or by visual inspection.
  • Resurface or Replace Rotors:
    • If warped, remove the rotor using a socket set.
    • Either take it to a machine shop for resurfacing or replace it with a new rotor.
    • Reinstall the rotor and ensure it is properly seated.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Pump the brake pedal to seat the brake pads properly before driving.
