Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: socket set, screwdriver, power steering fluid, rags for spills.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is turned off.
  • Wear safety gloves and goggles.
2. Check Power Steering Fluid
  • Open the power steering fluid reservoir cap.
  • Remove the dipstick (if applicable) and check the fluid level. Add the appropriate power steering fluid if low.
  • Inspect the fluid color; if it's dark or has debris, a full system flush may be needed.
3. Inspect for Leaks
  • Visually examine all power steering hoses and connections for leaks.
  • If any hoses are damaged, replace them with OEM or equivalent parts.
  • Check the power steering pump for leaks; if found, the pump may need to be replaced.
4. Replace Power Steering Pump (if necessary)
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Remove the drive belt from the power steering pump.
  • Disconnect the power steering lines from the pump using a wrench.
  • Unbolt the pump from its mounting bracket and remove it from the engine bay.
  • Install the new power steering pump in reverse order of removal, ensuring all connections are tight.
  • Refill the power steering fluid and bleed the system by turning the steering wheel from lock to lock with the engine running.
5. Test Drive & Final Checks
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the vehicle and check for any leaks around the power steering components.
  • Take the car for a test drive to ensure the steering feels normal.
