Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts. Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Fluid catch pan
    • Power steering fluid (specific to Honda)
    • Rags for cleanup
2. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Fluid
  • Remove the power steering fluid reservoir cap.
  • Use a fluid siphon or turkey baster to remove old fluid from the reservoir.
  • Dispose of the old fluid properly.
  • Refill the reservoir with new power steering fluid up to the recommended level.
  • Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock to purge any air from the system.
  • Check fluid level again and top off if necessary.
3. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Pump (if necessary)
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety.
  • Remove the serpentine belt from the power steering pump pulley.
  • Unbolt the power steering pump from its mounting bracket using a socket set.
  • Carefully detach the power steering lines from the pump, using a catch pan to collect any residual fluid.
  • Install the new power steering pump by reversing the removal steps:
    • Bolt the new pump in place and torque bolts to manufacturer specifications.
    • Reattach the power steering lines, ensuring they are secured and leak-free.
  • Reinstall the serpentine belt and check for proper alignment.
