Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool down before starting any work.
2. Change Transmission Fluid
  • Tools Required: Fluid pump, 3/8" ratchet, socket set, drain pan, funnel.
  • Remove the transmission drain plug and drain the old fluid into a pan.
  • Reinstall the drain plug and torque it to the manufacturer specification (usually around 30 ft-lbs).
  • Use a fluid pump to add new Honda ATF DW-1 fluid through the dipstick tube until the level reaches the appropriate mark.
3. Replace Torque Converter
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, socket set, torque wrench, transmission jack.
  • Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands.
  • Remove the transmission pan to access the torque converter bolts.
  • Disconnect the transmission from the engine (remove bell housing bolts).
  • Carefully slide the transmission back to access the torque converter.
  • Remove the old torque converter and install the new one, ensuring it is seated properly.
  • Reinstall the transmission, torque converter bolts, and transmission pan.
4. Reprogram TCM (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner with programming capabilities.
  • Connect the OBD-II scanner to the vehicle and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reprogram or reset the TCM.
  • This may involve updating software or resetting learned shift points.
