Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: socket set, torque wrench, oil catch pan, rubber gloves, and rags.
  • Ensure the engine is cool and parked on a level surface.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid electrical issues.
2. Identify and Replace the Faulty Component

A. Oil Filter

  • Remove Oil Filter:
    1. Place the oil catch pan under the oil filter.
    2. Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
  • Install New Oil Filter:
    1. Apply a thin layer of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter.
    2. Install the new oil filter by hand until snug, then tighten according to manufacturer specifications.

B. Front Crank Seal (if leaking)

  • Remove Accessory Belt:
    1. Loosen the tensioner pulley and remove the accessory belt.
  • Remove Timing Cover:
    1. Remove bolts securing the timing cover using a socket set.
    2. Carefully pry off the timing cover.
  • Replace Front Crank Seal:
    1. Use a seal puller to remove the old crank seal.
    2. Clean the sealing surface and apply a thin layer of oil to the new seal.
    3. Install the new crank seal using a seal installer tool.
  • Reassemble Timing Cover:
    1. Apply RTV sealant where needed and reinstall the timing cover.
    2. Torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Reinstall Accessory Belt:
    1. Reinstall the accessory belt and ensure proper tension.
3. Refill Engine Oil
