  • Ensure the vehicle is in "Park" or "Neutral" mode.
  • Safety Warning: Disconnect the battery if you plan to remove the ignition lock cylinder.
2. Inspect the Key
  • Check the key for damage or excessive wear. If damaged, replace the key.
  • If you have a spare key, attempt to use it to see if the issue persists.
3. Lubricate the Ignition Lock Cylinder
  • Insert the graphite lubricant nozzle into the ignition lock cylinder.
  • Apply a small amount of lubricant and attempt to turn the key gently.
  • Move the key back and forth to distribute the lubricant evenly.

  • Tools Required: Socket set, Torx screwdriver.
  • Disconnect the battery (if not done previously).
  • Remove the plastic covers around the steering column using a Torx screwdriver.
  • Locate the ignition lock cylinder retaining pin and push it with a small tool while turning the key to the "ON" position to release it.
  • Slide the ignition lock cylinder out of the housing.
5. Reinstall or Replace the Ignition Lock Cylinder
  • If the lock cylinder is worn, replace it with a new unit. Ensure the new cylinder matches the key.
  • Reinstall the ignition lock cylinder by aligning it correctly and reversing the removal steps.
  • Reattach the steering column covers and reconnect the battery.
