Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and allow the engine to cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical issues.
2. Inspect and Replace Gaskets
  • Valve Cover Gasket:

    • Remove the engine cover if applicable.
    • Unbolt the valve cover using the socket set.
    • Carefully lift the valve cover and remove the old gasket.
    • Clean the mating surface of the valve cover and cylinder head with a scraper.
    • Install the new gasket and reattach the valve cover, torquing the bolts to manufacturer specifications (approximately 7-9 ft-lbs).
  • Oil Pan Gasket:

    • Drain the engine oil using an oil pan and remove the oil drain plug.
    • Unbolt the oil pan using the socket set.
    • Remove the old oil pan gasket and clean the surface.
    • Apply a new gasket and reattach the oil pan, ensuring to torque to manufacturer specifications (approximately 10-12 ft-lbs).
3. Replace Oil Filter
  • Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
  • Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand, tightening it until it is snug.
4. Replace Seals (if needed)
  • If the crankshaft seals are leaking, remove the crankshaft pulley using a puller tool.
  • Replace the front and/or rear crankshaft seals, ensuring they are seated properly.
  • Reinstall the crankshaft pulley and torque to manufacturer specifications.
5. Refill Engine Oil
  • Replace the oil drain plug after reassembling the oil pan.
  • Refill the engine with the appropriate type and amount of engine oil (typically 5W-20 for Honda Accord).
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
